I guess it's only popular because those who like it are new anime fans (and can't compare SAO to many anime) or just somehow find something entertaining about it (like the action, animation or romance).

As far as isekai genre is concerned, Log Horizon was my introduction to the genre. And I loved it. The great thing is it actually felt like a living breathing MMO world. Plus the protagonist is a guy who does stuff behind the scenes and is not the usual MC, and can be ruthless at times. A kind version of Light or Lelouche.
Almost all the characters were like able. And the dialogues were smart.

There are people like me, who like SAO. It's a cool anime. Why do you think it's trash and what log horizon has that SAO doesn't have?

SAO just has a bad story. It doesn't present a fleshed-out realistic depiction of an MMO. It has rules but those rules are broken to advance the plot, especially when it comes to kirito (making him overpowered).

I mean, the characters suck too. Kirito becomes too overpowered at times to make it convenient for the plot and pull off some asspulls. And Asuna is a terrible character too, she's only there to be Kirito's waifu and is always getting captured. And the rest of the female cast isn't interesting either, they are just apart of this harem with kirito.

Those are just some of the reasons.

You're basically describing what SAO should have been but isn't. lol. SAO had great idea's, but they were terribly executed.

I watched SAO when it was airing and it started off great the first few episodes. Then it went downhill.

Oh, lol okay. By the way, would you consider Season 2 to be trash too(if you've watched it, that is)?

I wish that they didn't take the route that they did with the second season, like why not have it just based on the first (could have gone WAY more in depth). Kinda of excited to see if they start a new game or what they do with the third season now.

I haven't watched it but from what I've heard, it's not much better. I mean after how season 1 gets, it's unrealistic to think it will actually be good at some point.

Personally though, despite what I said, I think you should watch it for yourself and see what you can take from it and whether there is something you might like about it, if any. I'm saying just for the sake of keeping an open mind. lol.

I probably will. I do have a lot of initial seasons to catch up to. There's a lot of sequels coming next year.

Kirito isn't the one who is overpowered. The creator is the one who is overpowered who made himself as an inanimate object. I agree with Asuna. She is powerless and only good for looking pretty. Kirito's sister isn't one of his harem members.

That's because someone like heathcliff was the admin of his game. So obv it makes more sense. But the way kirito beat him was an asspull.

Even if you disregard the whole overpowered thing, kirito in general is just a bland and boring character.

If he is the admin, then he should take precautions. Why would he make things difficult for the gamers and they end up dead? He is much more cunning and overpowered than kirito
