The anime has been on a downward spiral ever since the Punk Hazard arc started to get over. It showed signs of it during the Fishman Island arc.

That's all the manga's strength. The anime is pretty much coloured images, voices and music with below average animation.

What about the latest episodes? I thought you were going through the better part of the arc just about now, no?

isn't the animation good now? are you watching this in hd format? like quality for one piece is bad as the art itself isn't good

My favorite manga right now is black butler while my favorite anime is Gundam Wing, so they are rather different between demons and mecha.

The wedding has started so the 'plot' is progressing well. But that's like the only strength. It doesn't help it when the only reason I'm watching the anime is because I'm too lazy to read the manga. The main problem with the anime is when there's a major battle between two characters. When you are reading the manga you finish a chapter in say 4 min, and if the fight lasts for 20 chapters, then that's 80 min. But, the anime extends one manga chapter to 20 min, which isn't bad, they certainly can, but instead of, you know, animating, all they do is perform panning shots for an extended amount of time, make the two people stare at each other, and make them perform the attacks for more time than necessary. These things make the anime come to a screeching halt and you ge really, really bored. This was bad during Luffy vs that Biscuit General, and particularly bad during Luffy vs Doflamingo.

Oh. O___O Guess you are up for a "treat" then. The wedding ceremony and all the stuff that goes on there was like the the best part of the arc for me and I thought it would translate great into the anime. So many interesting events happening, so many characters get to play a role. If that part isn't dynamic enough in the adaptation, then the rest of the arc... I dunno, brace yourself.

I saw like 5 minutes of Luffy vs Cracker, the animation was way too bad for me. Oversimplified slide show-style motion, sloppy character drawing, questionable color scheme... Maybe I picked bad 5 minutes to watch, it was the part where Nami was pumping up Luffy to eat more cracker soldiers xD But that scene alone took away any desire I might have had to check out OP episodes. But that is pretty typical for me, I rarely watch adaptations when I've read the manga.

You saw Katakuri already, right? =) His intro in the manga was really hyped. I dunno how much he already did during the wedding, but I remember my opinion of him getting up with every chapter there.

The anime started to get comparatively better when Luffy and Sanji re-united after the fight with the Cracker General. That's when the 'plot' kicks in again, and so far, it's certainly been better. I think that the director and the screen-writer are able to pad things better when there's dialogues, but they really, really struggle during battle sequences. In the latest episode, the photo was broken, and Mama didn't go full insane, and I imagine there's gonna be a major battle with Katakuri now. They've been building up to it for a few episodes. Ironically, I'm not looking forward to it even though One Piece is a battle Shounen. I don't want to watch 25 episodes of it.
