I see : D I was just surprised to think you would buy all volumes before even starting to read it =) I don't even have a complete series of anything, I buy a few volumes to check it out, hoping I would get the rest if I like what I've read.

Cool choices. Dunno how much you'll like Cowboy Bebop, I wasn't blown away by it when I saw it, but I probably picked it too early. Gurren Lagann on the other hand keeps getting more impressive the more I think about it. But I've probably already talked about how much I like it =)

"all the cliches of popular shounen manga dumped into one", it is funny to hear that : D When I looked though Black Clover panels on the image search I had an impression that it was too much of a usual shonen. The artist isn't bad though, I like how some of the panels look. Does it get better after 70 chapters?

That does sound pretty funny xD

It's like the second biggest anime community, after MAL. Or third, don't know how big 4chan is.

It's pretty difficult to get it here, plus due to the currency conversion bullshit, it's more expensive. But the artwork is incredible(line-shading, panelling, and the actual drawings and stuff).

People keep saying it's better than Samurai Champloo, and I loved Samurai Champloo, so maybe I'll love Bebop too. But I'm careful, I don't wanna set myself up for disappointment. Same with Gurren Lagann(it being compared to Kill la Kill and FLCL).

The plot is basically this: The world is a land of magic, and Asta and Yuno are orphans raised at a Church. They both wanna become the Wizard King, and while Yuno is a genius, Asta has no magic powers. However, he is hard-working and never gives up. Now, that's unique isn't it?

People who've read the manga say one of its strengths are that it brushes through the cliches(tournament arcs, etc) as fast as possible to become its own thing, and I think after 70 or 80 chapters, it becomes one. At least according to them.

Interesting you say that. My sis and I couldn't cross episode 3, and one of the reasons was his voice. We dropped it. A lot of people did.

Sounds cool! And yeah, I bought all my hard copies abroad, and they weren't too cheap either. Though not as crazy expensive as anime, those prices are just prohibitive. You pay something like 20 euro for a movie and a full season of a tv anime would sell for even more than that. And you get a garbage quality plastic casing and a region-coded DVD, so you need to reconfigure your player... huge pain.

I see.

And then there is a girl who likes Yuno and whom Asta has a crush on? : D I mean, yeah, they could have tried to make it less generic than that. Though One Piece's settings are just as bad, same with HxH. But the writers managed to do something with these two, so. I dunno if I can seriously blame a Jump series for being such a typical... Jump series, you know =)
There are some really unique Jumps series though. I've read few chapters of Dr. Stone, it is very unusual from the very beginning.

Weird voices almost never irritate me. Bad voice acting is another thing, but that is like really rare, can't remember a single example in the modern anime. I am talking about ridiculous performances, something like what you find in early US dubs for the low budget shows from the 80s-90s. Though even those are usually rather entertaining than irritating.
I wonder why they decided to give the guy such a weird voice though. It is to make him memorable or something?.. Seems kinda strange.

The whole business practice of the industry itself is like really bad, selling 4 Blu-rays for a 13 episode series(or 3 episodes per disk). Aniplex is to be blamed for this. Volume 1 of Erased costs 90 fucking dollars. Volume 1. That's like six episodes.
However, Funimation, Crunchyroll and Sentai Film Works release blurays at reasonable rates.
Did you try subscribing to Viz Media for manga? They do have a pretty good library.
My sis got the first volumes of the Big Three, Gintama, Fairy Tail, Death Note, and the price wasn't too bad. They were all brought abroad.

Lol I have no idea. As I said I dropped it at episode 3. I am planning to watch the dub one day, when I run out of good shounen anime. I watched a few clips and it was pretty good.

The director and the studio are to be blamed. The guy voicing Asta is a debutant, so his performance is probably really reliant on the director, and they shouldn't have picked a newbie for such a popular adaptation.

Bluray prices are pretty crazy. I don't even have a bluray player though, so I just ignore them. I'm not ready to pay ~100 usd for a series, that is just too expencive. And I am not a collector, I don't care about owning these disks. I'd be perfectly happy with a Crunchyroll-style deal, where I just pay a substciption. Though they started to block content based on the region recently, which screwed that deal for me :/ Anyway, I have hopes for future I guess, in the meanwhile I'll have to be content with buying manga and movies on DVD xD

At the moment I'm only reading OPM and HxH in English, and Viz Media doesn't have a subscription for manga in German, as far as I know. So it is not worth it for me. I'm reading everything from Manga Tube, that is a semi legal aggregator, they voluntarily delete all licensed series.

Right, they definitely decided to go with this weird voice, it is not like the actor speaks like that naturally =)

Neither am I, and if you know where to search, you can get them. I don't really want to pirate but the industry makes me so it's their fault for having an inferior service to ones that are not legal. Even most of Crunchyroll's library isn't available here(it's really laughable), and Funimation is... blocked. I've an Amazon Prime and a Netflix subscription and the library in these two are inferior to the one available in the States too.

Oh, that's kinda like manga-stream then? Or was that a wrong comparison?

I just checked, Funimation is blocked here as well :/ I dunno what to say about it. I am not their target audience anyway, can't really blame them for not providing the best service for me. Region based restriction are sure annoying though.

No, it is a stable aggregator, so closer to manga fox. They have a library of manga series translated by fans. Manga Stream, if I remember right, is a hosting for recent chapters, they used to delete their uploads after a fixed time. At least, I remember they used to not to have complete mangas. Manga Tube does the same for One Piece and DB Super, but these are rare exceptions. In Germany it is very rare that somebody would translate a series that has already been licensed, which is what Manga Stream does =) That is why you see very few popular series on that site, it is mostly a collection of short and obscure manga.

That's another bad business practice by the industry.

Oh, so it's sort of like light-novel fan translation groups who stop translations and delete everything after a company licenses the IP. That's pretty cool.

Another funny thing is, they only have about 500 series, most of which are less than 5 chapters, and most of the remaining ones are incomplete. That is like, all there is to read for a German reader. Which is why most of them are reading manga in English. It is very rare to find a person who can't. I'll probably finish all the manga they have in a year or something.

Whoa, that looks organised and pretty? I remember reading Naruto and Attack on Titan from sites like Manga here, fox and panda, and boy they looked bad.

Lol, and I started Tokyo Ghoul in like Jan and I've only read like 50 chapters. No motivation to read manga for some reason. Though, season 3(Tokyo Ghoul:re) starts in April, and season 2 was completely anime original, and season 3 adapts the sequel to the original manga, so I'll probably complete before it starts airing.

You feel like watching more anime, now that you've completed Tempest and started another one?

Yeah, I like that too. The translations that this team produces are also really good quality. They work on a relatively few projects though.

I know what you mean, I hardly read any manga a year ago, was only following a couple long running series. If I wasn't trying to learn German I wouldn't have read 90% of what I did in this last year  xD Like, right now I am reading Koi Tomurai, it is a small collection of romantic stories; the only reason I got to it was because I am pretty much reading whatever I find on that site, can't be picky. Turns out, it is a nice manga, I like it. Same story with Higurashi or Umineko. I would have probably never even thought about reading the manga if I had a lot of other choices. But apparently the Umineko manga is much-much better than the anime version. It is a genuinely great mystery story, better than many of the crime novels I've read. For instance, it is more complex and detailed than the Sherlock Holmes short stories I am reading now (it is an unfair comparison I know, Doyle was a pioneer and back then a lot of the crime novel concepts weren't even developed yet). So I kinda like that the scarcity forces me to try new genres and obscure series.

Yep, I plan to keep watching tv series. There are quite a few I wanna see. Probably not the current season yet, but I don't know.
