The former reads as "merii kurushimi-masu", and the latter reads as "merii kurisumasu".
And 苦しみ means "painful".

And みんなケーキを食べよう means "let's all eat cake", because that's all the Japanese eat for Christmas.
I don't get why you used the word painful there.
How did you learn Japanese?

As I said, it's just a wordplay, that's all.
I learnt Japanese mainly by interacting with Japanese people and playing Japanese games.

I did use WaniKani to learn most of the Kanji, which served as a nice base.
But if you really want to be able to speak Japanese, you just have to use it in the real world, not just study x amount of hours.

That's great. Learning new languages is tough but it's fun too

How did you find these Japanese people to interact with?

There's actually a very long history behind this.
The first time was when somebody from Japan was touring all over Europe, randomly asked me for directions that escalated in a small talk, which eventually escalated into hours of talk.
We had loads in common, and it really surprised me how nice she was to me (it felt as if I've never seen any nice people before at all).
And around that time I started to buy games from Japan because we had to wait months or years for games to get out in Europe at that time.

So I had 2 reasons to learn Japanese: friends and games.

I eventually started uploading videos of Taiko no Tatsujin gameplay on YouTube, which attracted lots of Japanese viewers, and as I started to learn more about Japan, I've met more and more people gradually.
But unlike that girl I mentioned before, most of them couldn't speak anything other than Japanese, so it forced me to use the language too.
As I made mistakes, they corrected me.
And as I got corrected, I started to understand the language better.

And then a half year ago I started to look for Japanese Discord servers, so I could talk to a lot of people, and for longer than 2 hours a lifetime.
I couldn't find any for 3 months, but then I found online bulletin boards with a broad selection of servers you could join to.
So I started with 1, then 3, then I got invited by their members to other servers, etc.
All of them have one thing in common: they all have a very welcoming atmosphere.

The best way to learn is really by jumping in deep waters straight away, and refrain yourself from using any other language for most of the time for some time.
Sounds extreme, but it'll really bring you to fluency quick.

On the phone or how do you chat with them?
