Plot
"Three years after the events at Beacon Mental Hospital, Sebastian Castellanos has left the Krimson City Police Department and continues to be haunted by his experiences at Beacon, the disappearance of his wife Myra, and the death of his daughter Lily in a house fire. Sebastian is then approached by former partner and Mobius agent Juli Kidman, who reveals to him that Lily is still alive since Mobius faked her death. However, Mobius now needs Sebastian's help in saving her. Sebastian is brought to a secret Mobius facility where he meets the Administrator, who further explains that Lily is being used as the Core for a new STEM system to simulate an idyllic town called Union. However, some time ago, Mobius lost contact with Lily and their agents inside Union, and they no longer have any control over the STEM. Sebastian reluctantly agrees to help Mobius so that he has a chance to save Lily and enters the STEM "

The story of the game is what really sells it. It's starts off decent like the rest of the game but the game's climax chapters are one of the best and most emotional things I've ever seen and it ends on that high note.
Gameplay is different from the first game as they decided to make this open world which doesn't work well with horror games. I would not really even call this game scary as it's way more similar to dying light than the evil within 1 with all the roaming around killing zombies and collecting loot. So instead of getting a good open world game or a good horror game we get something in between and I wasn't a fan of that.
The boss fights are quite good and only get better as the game goes on. There are bugs and some questionable mechanics which I'm not sure were needed but don't know what else could be better but it doesn't matter.
But really the only reason I wrote thing was the last 2 chapters of the game being literally perfect in every way. It was surreal, it was beautiful it was emotional and one of the story endings ever seen by me.

Would recommend.

Just a doubt. Is it standalone or do I need to play part 1 to get it?

The starting would be confusing because they don't explain anything about the STEM thing and or the mirrors used to save work so I'd read up on the story from somewhere or do what I did which as watch my favorite streamer play the game. The story branches of really quickly from the first so you'll be fine then.

Both I guess. I never get to watch twitch but I watch the youtube videos of them. On second thought you could watch someone speed run the game to save time.
