Fuzzy logic is more of a clever math tool that allows to make some control system constructions look simpler. It also tends to easily confuse people. I can't say I am a big fan.

I thought robots need fuzzy logic to make robots act autonomously. Tell me if I am wrong but I think even that vacuum robot needs fuzzy logic, to move around and to clean the house.

Nah, fuzzy logic is just a fancy math tool, one of many people use, and it kinda has been going out of fashion in practical robotics lately, as far as I can tell.

Really? I thought that was what that allowed robots to make decent decisions

Nah, it is just one of the many tools there are =) Most robots run graph search algorithms for decision making (especially path planning), optimization gets more and more popular by the day, neural networks had been useful for solving some kinds of tasks, and so on. Controlling a robot is basically a huge collection of smaller tasks and for each of those tasks there are multiple popular approaches and dozens of experimental ones. It is like a car, no single part is going to make it work on its own, you need the whole assembly =)

Oh. Thank you. I get it a bit now. Can you post a pic of the robot that you have built sometime?

Why is that? Are robots unique?
